Doug Polk lost an 80-big blind pot near the money bubble on Day 3 in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) thanks to a brutal bad beat.

The co-owner of Austin, Texas' The Lodge Card Club had quite the roller coaster ride in his only tournament of the summer. But it ended in brutal fashion. He did, however, get in one last ClubWPT Gold promotion on his way out of the feature table area.

Aces Versus Kings Twice

Michael Mizrachi, the newly minted four-time Poker Players Championship champion, lost more than half his monster stack on one of the PokerGO/PokerStars feature tables when he ran his pocket kings into pocket aces after the dinner break. "The Grinder" went from being among the biggest stacks in the tournament to under 30 big blinds within minutes.

A similar situation occurred at the other feature table, this one involving Polk and the table chip leader, Luke Chung, who had been on quite a heater the previous level. That heater appeared to be five community cards away from coming to a screeching halt.

Polk, with the blinds at 3,000/6,000, put his entire stack of 243,000 in the middle with A♠A♦, and had the much bigger-stacked Chung, who had K♠K♦, in a world of hurt. But the flop came out 6♣3♣K♠, leaving Polk drawing to just two outs. He wouldn't get either of those outs on the 7♦turn or 10♦river and was eliminated about 150 spots shy of the money in poker's most prestigious tournament.

The Upswing Poker founder took the bad beat in stride and dropped one final "Code Doug" plug for the viewers at home. The Main Event will pay the top 1,461 players. At the time of publishing, only 1,522 of the 9,735 entries remained on the final level of Day 3.

It likely won't take long for the bubble to burst on Day 4, which starts at noon PT on Wednesday.
