Creating Runs and Sets. Each player discards a card from their hand onto the discard pile after drawing cards in turn from rummy ranieither the draw or discard piles. Runs are made up of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, while sets are made up of three or four cards of the same rank. As wild cards in a set or run, jokers can be used in place of any other card.
