A set number of cards are dealt to each player at the start of the game, depending on the variation being played. With the top card turned face up to begin the discard pile, the remaining cards are arranged face down on the table to form the draw pilrummy regele. Both gameplay and strategy are covered. Each player takes a turn drawing cards from either the draw or discard pile, followed by the discarding of a card from their hand. Forming sets of three or four cards of the same rank or runs of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit is the key to winning at Rummy Golds. A player can "lay off" cards by adding them to sets and runs that they or other players have already played after they have created legitimate sets and runs with their hand.
